Episode 45: Cryptids Part III

Summary

Well, well, well, dear listeners.  Abby and Ellie are doing Cryptids Part III!  Before we dive in to creepy crawlers, we discuss driving the “wee-woo” truck, and an unfortunate Driver’s Education circumstance involving a sighting of a possible cryptid (???).  Then, with a dash of off-brand genitalia (grab a bucket and a mop, everyone) and some standard QFF tangents, we discuss cryptids, including, but not limited to:  the Oklahoma Octopus (and why real Octopus are so dang creepy). the Lake Worth Monster and the Ozark Howler.

Movisode 14: House of Wax (2005) and Madame Tussauds Wax Museum

Summary

Abby and Ellie haven’t seen each other for a WHILE in this episode, which is why our witty banter and updates last until about the 17:00 mark.  Ellie discusses a hilarious fire chief and Abby whines about a short summer vacation that feels so far away.  There’s something for everyone in this episode:  movie trivia, a roadkill pit?!, a throwback 2009 Folger’s Coffee Commercial, some French Revolution history, and so much more we can’t cram it all into the show notes!

Due to a misread text, Abby had to watch this travesty twice in two days so she considers herself an expert on the topic.  Abby and Ellie discuss the big 2005 vibes of House of Wax.  Juicy Couture velour sweat suits, Chad Michael Murry miscast as a brother instead of a boyfriend, Jared Padelecki pre Supernatural, Disturbed and My chemical Romance on the soundtrack, and more.

Then, Abby discusses the bloody history of Madame Toussad and her Wax Museum.  We also, of course, in true QFF fashion, discuss the controversies that surround them:  the royal family wax figures, whitewashed Beyonce,  and an inaccurate depiction of Nicki Minaj just to name a few.  Enjoy the spooky vibes and comedic relief we offer in this movisode and don’t burn the house down when you stream House of Wax!

Summary

Ellie and Abby discuss the 2020 movie “The Invisible Man” starring Elizabeth Moss and what scares them about the movie and toxic relationships.  Then, Abby lightens the mood with a “possession” of sorts from the 1950s in Manila in which a 13 year old boy was said to be able to disappear and reappear seemingly at will.

Episode 40: We’ll Never Be Royals: Racism and Controversies in the Royal Family

Summary

Oh boy, dear listeners.  We really went hard in the paint on this meaty episode (Abby’s trying to make “meatisode” a thing, but Ellie isn’t buying it).  Abby and Ellie discuss it all- from the monarchy’s relationship with Nazis to ‘Megxit’!  Our topics include some royal controversies, scandals, the media’s treatment of the royal family, Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton and how the monarchy is…. *checks notes* bad… due to it being founded on imperialism and racist ideologies.  Even Fergie isn’t safe from our eyebrow raising and banter.  So fill your cup and add one lump or two and  join us at this spill-the-tea party on this episode of Queers for Fears!
